At Servpro of Jamestown/Olean we are looking for a well-rounded, self-motivated and experienced craftsman. We are seeking someone interested in a career with us for the long-term. The ideal candidate would be an experienced lead carpenter that is able to manage all aspects of a remodeling project, lead a small team, and communicate effectively with the homeowner. The candidate will possess strong problem solving and decision-making skills and be a team player.
You must be reliable, hard-working, detail-oriented and have a strong work ethic. Must be willing to work flexible hours.
Excellent attendance and punctuality is required.
Responsibilities of job include experience in the following areas:
Frame interior walls
Painting interior/exterior
Siding
Drywall, Floating, Hanging and Mud (Smooth Finish) (Tape and Compound)
Insulation
Finish trim work
Tile/granite installation
Install baseboard
Cut, assemble and fasten materials to make framework, using hand and air tools
General carpentry tasks including site work, demolition, repair foundations, framing, windows/doors, finish work, kitchen installations, punchout, and cleanup
Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixture
Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials
Prepare layouts using measuring tools Read drawings and sketches
Adapts easily to changing deadlines
Flexibility to work on numerous projects with varying scopes while delivering quality in a timely manner.
Commitment to work in a safe and tidy manner. Includes usage of proper PPE and containment barriers setup to reduce further damages to customer’s homes and businesses.
Attention to detail with the ability to see the project as the customer and to produce outstanding results.
Knowledge of residential remodeling, light commercial trades. Practiced procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, safety and applicable to building codes and OSHA regulations are required.
Must be able to communicate clearly with others and answer questions about construction processes to others. Must work well with other employees and subcontractors on the job and be able to resolve problems as they arise.
Must be organized and able to complete all jobsite correspondence, purchase orders, timesheets, utilization of electronic data, etc.
Produce remodeling projects on budget and consistent with company standards of quality and professionalism.
Represent the values of our Company at all times.
Must speak English at a level of proficiency sufficient to communicate effectively with clients and Projects Managers.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with leading other skilled and non-skilled crew members, utilizing organizational skills in respect to job site organization, and maintaining records of needed supplies and work completed.
Operates a company vehicle to transport tools and materials between work sites.
Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and precautions
Ability to visually inspect a work site to determine adherence to standards
Skill and ability to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing with professionalism when interacting with tenants and property owners
Knowledge and skills to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines
Daily supervision and management of the project job site.
Maintain the job site in an organized, safe and secure manner- including updating the project manager, protecting the home, installing dust controls.
Meeting with city/county/state inspectors and facilitating city/county/state inspections as required
Qualifications
Must have valid driver's license and be able to pass pre and post-employment screenings.
Previous experience required.
Verifiable industry references are required.
Detailed knowledge of residential remodeling and general knowledge of trade work (Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC) preferred
Basic computer, email, phone skills
Education: High School Diploma (or equivalent)
NCCER a plus, Trade certifications a plus
Strong work ethic and, “can do,” attitude.
